Roman Pottery Site
Excavations Summer/Autumn 2002
AC Archaeology staff left the project at the end of September and the excavations will now be conducted solely by the volunteer team. There are many pits and ditches still to be excavated..
On parts of the site there are very high densities of pits and intersecting ditches.
This broken Neolithic stone axe was found in a pit fill.
Dumps of raw clay were probably associated with pottery production.
Classic Media Video filmed some excavation sequences which will be included in new videos on the Rivers Frome and Piddle.
