Roman Pottery Site
Excavations Summer/Autumn 2002
Torrential rain was a setback at the beginning of the week and much of the site was under water. Despite this the archaeological work progressed well.
Bournemouth University student Garry Nobles holds a small beaker which he had recently excavated.
This kiln has been half-sectioned revealing the clay-lined firing chamber, stone flue and stoke pit.
This complete quernstone may have been used either to grind corn or even to crush clay for pot making.
