Week 5

The excavation of kilns has stopped for the moment and we are concentrating on the Roman ditches and pits.

A rare piece of Oxford 'wheat' pattern pottery dates to the 4th century.

Steve Bungay excavates one of the dozens of ditches on the site, all are producing large amounts of pottery.

Journalist Paula Teggardine from the local weekly 'Wareham Advertiser' visits.

Faith Eckersall, from the Daily Echo, about to try her hand at excavating.

Volunteer diggers from our sister society EDAS (Wimborne) are helping at weekends.

A number of quernstones hint at nearby settlement - as yet to be found.
