Roman Pottery Site
Excavations Summer/Autumn 2002
More kilns have been located and excavated. As the site is cleared, smaller features are being found which will help to put this huge site into its historical context. Invited visitors are able to see archaeology in action.
Rare forms of pottery are being found such as this this part of a flanged-rim cooking pot.
Is this huge piece of heathstone prehistoric or Roman? Only time (and more research) will tell!
The smallest kiln on the site so far. It appears to have been fired only once.
Wareham and District Archaeology and Local History Society inspect the excavations.
