Mesolithic worked flints
Two areas have produced evidence of late-Mesolithic activity. So far this is the earliest known use of the land. The first 'site' consisted of a series of pits, which were dug to extract flint for tool making. Some distance from these, a large enigmatic pit contained 52 kilos of burnt flint.
